Marlock Electric technician recently installed a new 100amp overhead electric service including interior electric panel that was both outdated and unsafe. The panel that was in the house contained outdated and electrically unsafe fuses. This service was brought up to date with panel and circuit breakers. If you have one of these outdated electric panels, we highly recommend replacing it.
Marlock Electric was sent to a home in Newark, NY where the service entrance cable on the side of the house was falling and in great disrepair. We see this often due to the weather in our area and are asked to also place meters on the exterior of the home, as the older homes are primarily in the basements.
We were able to install a new service for the customer as well as place the meter on the exterior so that the power company can read it without having to gain entry into the house.
These homeowners in Newark, NY contacted Marlock Electric to help with the remodeling of their kitchen which included a lighting upgrade. Per request of the homeowners, we installed LED can lighting above the sink as well as LED style under cabinet lights to illuminate the work spaces. These LED lights are energy efficient and add decor to the room by the way the accent the counter tops and window. (Both pictures were taken after the project was completed, the only difference is the lights being turned on in the "after" picture, to exhibit the effects of our work).
We received a call from this Waterloo homeowner stating that they had an issue with partial power in their home. The utility company had been out and stated that they needed to call an electrician as there was some damage inside their meter enclosure. The meter socket was so damaged due to a bad connection that it caused excessive heat to build up and alter the connection point for the service conductors. Upon arrival the first thing that we noticed was the age of the service conductors as well as the age of the pole making it dangerous to work on. The area where the pole was was inaccessible to a bucket truck or lift. We were able to build a new pipe riser service above the roof line and install a new meter enclosure. Now the customer will be able to rest knowing that the electrical service is once again safe with no interruptions as well as being able to remove this pole from his side yard.
Initially this Williamson, NY customer was in the process of trying to replace their electric service on the exterior of their home on their own. What seemed like a simple project very quickly became a large issue for them. The electric was very outdated and the requirements of the job according to the electric company should be performed by a licensed electrician. With this knowledge, the Williamson, NY homeowner reached out to us for a quote on the project. Our project estimator took pictures of the before and after project as seen, and we were able to get the service replaced and back up and running the same day. The meter on the exterior of the home will also allow for more efficient meter reads, hopefully costing the homeowner less money between actual reads. What a great team we have working for us and the electric industry is better for our professional electricians.
