Electric Service Torn off House, Newark
Challenge
We received an emergency call at our office from a customer who lost power early one morning. After looking out her window, the customer realized that a large truck had drove by and caught the wire that ran over the street, which ripped the electrical service off of their home. The customer stated that this has happened to them multiple times in the past couple of years, but this time caused damage.
Solution
Our crew went out and we noticed that the clearance above ground was not sufficient for traffic in the area, and contacted NYSEG so they could install a new pole on the homeowners side of the road, to hook the power back up for the homeowner. Our technicians also had to replace the weatherhead and the meter prior to inspection. Believe it or not, this is common on many busy roads like where this home is located, due to tall trucks driving often, and low clearance from the ground to the wires. These customers can now have peace of mind that this won't happen again as their entire service was replaced, and the pole was moved to their side of the road so trucks can not rip it down anymore.
