 Marlock Electric was contacted by a local heating and cooling company to upgrade the electrical service for one of their customers. The customer was having an AC unit installed, but first needed a new electrical panel as his old one was not sufficient for the install. The customer had a Federal Pacific Electric panel which are very dangerous as they have a high risk of breaker malfunction and fire. This is dangerous because when the system is overloaded, the breaker can't trip and shut the power down (if there is a problem with the breaker), which could lead to a fire. The Federal Pacific Electric panel was not sufficient for the increase in power that would be coming with the AC, and would likely cause the system to be overloaded leading to all the problems listed above. To prevent these problems, Marlock Electric installed a new 200 amp service that would be sufficient enough for the new AC unit being installed. Our technicians also installed a 16 kw automatic standby generator so that their home will never experience a power outage.This means that even if the power were to go out on a hot summer day when the heat feels unbearable, these homeowners would still feel comfortable in their air conditioned home.
